The Cologne band hausderjugend deliberately focuses on polyphony and complexity on their third album "Jockey". After "Für immer Jetlag" (2015) and "Wenden in Drei Zug" (2017), "Jockey" is the first album in the band's new line-up since 2019. In the Corona standstill, the five musicians arrange song after song and have a lot of time to experiment, for example with new instruments and surprising rhythms. It's a pleasure to dive into these eleven finely arranged songs.
The songs sing about the simple things: the way to work, childhood memories, thoughts about getting older, but also the struggle to get up and keep going - often puzzling, but always touching. It's not about the big drama. It's the little everyday encounters that spark a sense of community. "Jockey" is an attempt to understand the world despite all doubts - a work that gives hope.
