When the sky has been dark gray for days and then the sun suddenly shines brightly again – “Das kleine Glück”, the new album by jazz pop singer Tania Fritz, captures this feeling. Born in Hesse, who came to the north after completing her studies, she envelops the banal things of everyday life in her magical, crystal-clear voice and transforms them into something beautiful with the help of clever German texts. What the studied musician wishes, she says herself, is that her songs become a "medicine chest for the little colds".
This warm-hearted album has an eventful history behind it: "Always, really always", says Tania, "life got in the way." Great love, family - and then suddenly a severe pneumonia. The illness shook everything that was important to the musician. “I had to find myself and my voice again. An intense, difficult time with a hard-earned happy ending.” A good friend aptly called the fact that her album will finally be released a “home run after 20 years”.
The message in the elegantly and slenderly arranged songs on the album is all the more intense: Tania Fritz wants to promote love for life and for herself. For a positive attitude, against all odds. In "Phoenix" she sings: "Dare to be what your heart tells you to be". In "Die Bank" it says: "Kick the dust off your clothes and look into the sun!" And in the title song "Das kleine Glück" Tania promises us: "It's not looking for you, it will find you ... the little one Happiness.” Small, good thoughts, Tania believes, can make big, good changes. A kind of butterfly effect of happiness!
"Das kleine Glück" brings together ten musical pearls, soulful and jazzy, in which the singer's unique voice always takes the limelight. Stylistically, this is sometimes reminiscent of musicians like Carole King, Pe Werner or Annett Louisan. Along with producer and guitarist Uli Kringler, drummer Heinz Lichius and the two bassists Jens Wrede (e-bass) and Lars Hansen (double bass) provide the right musical framework, flawlessly gentle and elegant. Tania herself played the piano and Rhodes.
Tania Fritz has created an album that comes with its very own, relaxed groove, but hides an important message in the light-footed groove of the melodies: The path to happiness may sometimes be difficult and the prospect gloomy - but it's always worth going on!
