The band VILNIR comes from southern Germany and, in a Nordic-fantasy musical style, their songs not only sing about the depths of human existence with all its facets, such as critical thoughts about oneself, fears, hopelessness, struggle, suffering, but also confidence and love , hope and happiness. Topics that have always occupied people and are not losing their topicality.
Born from a studio project in early 2019, composer and producer Michael "Eldur" Schnoor, together with Aranka "Ari" Nagel and later with Claudia "Jola" Elmer, developed the musical orientation in which they do not set themselves a temporal epoch, but space for Creating creativity and incorporating a wide variety of influences and ideas.
VILNIR takes the listener on journeys, puts them in the middle of a battlefield or a market where things aren't always right. He learns the story about a drunkard or about the love for a girl, which unfortunately remains unfulfilled. A rollercoaster of emotions, sometimes serious, sometimes mischievous, sometimes spirited.
VILNIR can be loud and driving with its drums and hurdy-gurdy drones complemented by distinctive melodies and the deep, raspy vocals of Eldur, rounded out with the voices of Jola and Ari. This creates the characteristic VILNIR sound, which can also be quiet, almost mystical. For example, through the delicately plucked tones of the lute and the lovely sound of the nyckelharpa. In combination with the singing of Ari and Jola, the listener is taken into another world.
The texts are mainly written in German, partly also in Swedish and Norwegian. Musically, traditional instruments such as the hurdy-gurdy, nyckelharpa, moraharpa, lyre, lute, various drums and horns are predominantly used.
