A grant from the Berlin Senate enabled Hub Hildenbrand to study Indian music in Calcutta from November 2010 to April 2011. He took lessons from Pandit Ranajit Sengupta, a sarod master of North Indian classical music. The Indian luthier Mukunda Biswas made a double-necked instrument with sympathetic strings based on Hildenbrand's designs. On the CD the artist can only be heard on this instrument, the Duitarod. Hildenbrand's compositions are strongly influenced by his experiences in India. His music is a meditative journey, it is very personal, yet timeless and universal.
