Since 1984 Michael van Merwyk has been internationally successful with numerous projects such as "MvM & Bluesoul", "Dozzler & Merwyk", "Garner & Merwyk" and many other experts in the blues scene. In 2011 he took first place with Bluesoul in the German Blues Challenge. This was followed in 2013 as the first European band to take second place at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis / USA, in which the quartet with their own Euro style prevailed in a field of 124 acts from 16 countries. Also this year van Merwyk had the honor of being invited to Memphis by the expert jury. In 2016, the jury and audience at the German Blues Awards voted him the best blues singer and best blues guitarist in Germany. Now his provisional Best Of comes as a Smart Record. The Smart Record is a completely new form of music album that combines the analog and digital world. Packed in an elaborately designed XXL booklet, printed on high-quality paper, the Smart Record contains not only the lyrics but also interesting biographical information about the musician, a large number of unpublished photos and a download code for the music. There are also links to the artist pages on the two largest streaming services Spotify and Apple Music, which can be easily scanned and called up as QR codes. A new way to enjoy music without giving up the tangible experience.
