The Love Tree is a 2018 drama film directed by Hikmet Izgi and starring Alexander Johnston, Julia Thielert and Sibylle Brunner.
In the drama Der Liebesbaum, a couple has to overcome their own prejudices against German-Turks in order to be happy together.
The Turkish-born German Kerim (Alexander Johnston) is new in Hanover and falls in love with Marla (Julia Thielert). However, she has some reservations about him and cannot shed her prejudices so easily, which is why the relationship comes to nothing. But then Kerim begins to get involved politically and eventually even stands for the mayoral election. In the course of his election campaign, he meets Marla again and their love is given a second chance, which could finally overcome deadlocked ideas.
