The blues guitarist and composer Roland Schal, born in 1956 in Gütersloh, Westphalia, presents an extremely multifaceted album with "Finally". Consisting exclusively of his own compositions, it is the essence of the musical work of this versatile musician, which has already spanned 50 years.
In memory of BB King and Jimi Hendrix and inspired by Kenny Burrell, the album's repertoire ranges from shuffle to funky grooves and Latin American sounds to jazz ballads. The composition "Love" could have come from Carlos Santana's pen and the song "It's Over" shines with the warm, soulful voice of rock lady Mennana Ennaoui.
Roland Schal elicits its typical sound from every instrument, which is also famous in professional circles. He plays authentically and with soul - "just the way it has to!". On this album, he is supported by Henner Malecha on bass and Wolfgang Roggenkamp on a Hammond B-3 with "Mojo", because Jimmy Smith and Ray Charles have played on exactly the same organ.
So it's no wonder that the spirit of these legends can actually be heard and felt here!
