TRIAZZ & Friends - A Jazz Tribute To Pop Music (CD)
TZ2064
Regular price €14,95TRIAZZ offers acoustic jazz in a surprisingly different way: you could describe the style as unplugged fusion. Under the motto a jazz tribute to pop music, the band plays pop standards as jazz-funky instrumental versions. Featuring hits from The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Spencer Davis, France Gall, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Phil Collins, Adele, Pharell Williams, Daft Punk, Nile Rodgers. The repertoire is supplemented by original compositions by bandleader Thomas Wecker.
The Moosburger Zeitung of November 20th, 2015 wrote about this formation: ... Although amplifiers were used at the concert in the Jazz Club Hirsch on Wednesday, it was one of the "quietest" evenings, not only in recent weeks. This actually forced some of the notorious talkers among the visitors of the pub to listen, which ultimately benefited everyone. "Triazz" offered a concert that was really worth listening to, which drew its effects and effect solely from the music and the musical ability of the quintet. ... The response from the audience was simply: "Great!"
TRIAZZ is a trio that includes not only bandleader and guitarist Thomas Wecker, but also Heiko Jung, one of Germany's best bass players, who has performed many times with successful projects such as the metal-jazz band Panzerballett, Martin Grubinger and Klaus Doldinger's Passport. The drummer Dittmar Hess, known from many Munich formations, has also been a member from the start. For the rhythmic basis of TRIAZZ he deliberately limits himself to cajón, snare drum and hi-hat.
TRIAZZ is regularly reinforced by the renowned Munich jazz musician and composer Wolfgang Roth (saxophone, clarinet, contraalt clarinet, flute), who, among other things, also arranged music for the films by Marcus H. Rosenmüller (“Who dies earlier is longer dead”). Roth also contributed arrangements to TRIAZZ, some of which featured unusual instrumentation with contraalt clarinet.
Finally, Florian Sagner (known from The Stimulators) joined TRIAZZ, who enriches the arrangements of Thomas Wecker and Wolfgang Roth as a great trumpeter. In many pieces he also appears as a percussionist and offers a rousing percussion section together with Dittmar Hess on cajón and snare drum.
