The new album "Dark Angel" is diabolical, mysterious and archaic blues, devil music, voodoo, a raw unpolished diamond, handmade real and honest music. And who sells their soul to the devil so that their blues can bring back the spirit of John Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson or Hank Williams? Ecki Haircut (guitars, vocals, harp) & Bahli Haircut (drums, vocals) did it. And now they are doomed to tour forever. And they do it with great passion and conviction. The two thoroughbred musicians are thus consistently developing their blues duo. The result is "unmistakable, handmade music" (NWZ). They recorded their album »Dark Angel« in just one night with just one microphone in mono on the swampy, foggy banks of the Ems. On "Dark Angel" E&B Haircut convince with bottleneck guitars, open tunings, fascinating slide soundscapes, good vocals and cool shuffle grooves and an earthy vintage sound. E&B Haircut have been playing together for over 25 years. They realize their shared love for old and original blues and Americana with their duo E&B Haircut. The album contains 13 new songs - own songs and cover songs from Robert Johnson to Howling Wolf and John Lee Hooker always looks around the corner. All songs were written on the road - on E&B Haircut's Neverending tour.

As a cosmopolitan who is always looking for new challenges, Fady Maalouf has found his musical oasis with his third album "City of Gold". A rebirth of the singer, who shows his rebellious side with the new production and consciously fights his way against the stream. City of Gold was written with a lot of passion and love. All instruments were recorded live to maintain the organic content and authenticity of the sound, with no restrictive rules and away from today's polished one-size-fits-all productions. Each song tells a special story and the entire work resembles a storybook. With the help of its producer Bernd Klimpel and the lyricists Charlie Mason, Dimitri Ehrlich and Scott English, this disc with an exotic flair was created under the pen of Fady Maalouf. The journey begins and Fady invites the listener to discover themselves.

Ganaim take you on a musical journey through time through the most diverse regions of Europe with traditional Celtic folk. With their passionate and dreamy, but also exhilaratingly happy music, they immerse themselves in the foggy forests of Ireland, watch Scottish generals defeat the English crown and dance exuberantly with radiant beauties on the beaches of Brittany on warm summer evenings. Their songs are traditional pieces from former Celtic settlement areas, which have been handed down over the course of many centuries. With ever new and unique influences, these precious contemporary witnesses of our history were always passed on to the next generations and still bring the events of bygone times to life again today. How many people could have danced, partied and dreamed to these songs before they were revisited by two artists with a love for authentic and natural music and a passion for traditional acoustic folklore? Pinto, known through the medieval folk group Versengold, is the singer, guitarist and drummer (bodhrán) of the duo. Together with Saskia on violin, the two musicians release their debut album Ceol ón Mhuileann, which means The Sound of the Mill. Together with a handpicked selection of guest musicians, they dedicate themselves entirely to the tradition of Celtic lore and give the music new, sometimes unexpected and surprising accents with their own ideas. Traditional songs are rearranged in their individual and unique way. A well-known text merges with new melodies, lively songs are interpreted as ballads (or vice versa) and their own musical compositions are added.

After two years on the road, with over 100 live performances in German rock and blues clubs (among others with the Blues Company, Rudy Rotta, Peewee Bluesgang) and 700 EPs sold, the Marius Tilly Band releases their first album: "Blue Colors, Red Lights". . The trio's energetic songs spark a captivating dynamic that is second to none, both live and in the studio. With the focus on songwriting, Marius Tilly has found his very own voice over the years, which is just as authentic as it is timeless. The exceptional talents Benjamin Oppermann and Max Wastl know better than any other rhythm group how to implement the band's musical concept.

"Rorymania": An album that you're always happy to feed the player with is permanent. You get goosebumps just thinking about the fact that "Rorymania", with Alex Conti, Henrik Freischlader and Gregor Hilden, will also be on tour in Germany in September 2007. Of course, the band also has samples of different varieties of the blues in stock. The album offers a great selection, whether in the funky-soul version or mixed with some country. Arndt delivers a lot of wah-wah sound in "The Bad Thang" with Dieter Kropp on the harp. The ballad on the record, I think, is "Trouble Has Taken The Crown" from the CD "Voodoo" (2003). The beautifully designed booklet with lots of pictures is always a pleasure to pick up when listening to the disc. "The Blue Side Of ..." stretches a great roof over the previous work of one of the leading blues rock trios in Germany. On the fifteenth birthday, the reflection on the past is justified and at the same time fuels the anticipation of new releases. - http://www.rocktimes.de

What do Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher and the Beatles have in common? They have all written legendary "trainsongs", songs about vagabonds, about railroad romance and the great freedom. The Bielefeld blues guitarist Richie Arndt has collected these pearls of music history on his new album. He plays it live on his acoustic guitar and occasionally acts as a narrator, providing insight into music history and reporting on his own 30-year stage career. (Source: Klenkes) In addition to the music CD, the new “Train Stories” double album comes with an extra audio book with Richie Arndt as narrator and solo performer. Richie Arndt combines his own experiences as a musician and teacher with the history of the American railway and its legendary "Trainsongs".

Making a living from DIY is almost impossible, but living DIY works – you just have to do it. So Nils locked himself in the YeahYeahYeah Studios in Hamburg and tinkered with his own songs for the first time. In doing so, he processed his love for 60's beat and southern rock and formed it into a complete work that sounds more like the soundtrack of a Californian road movie than like northern German country life. No wonder, because on »Bangkok« he only used recording technology and instruments from the 1960s and 1970s. The guitars are always in the foreground, rhythmically he pulls out all the stops, from tambourines to bongos to cowbells. Nils' voice is sometimes soulful, sometimes bluesy and sometimes even reminiscent of surf punk heroes from days gone by. This is what freedom and wanderlust taste like. In the studio he recorded all the instruments himself - it's all about music and the craft itself. So away from plastic and back to music! In the fall of 2016, Nils finished recording »Bangkok« and focused on the live implementation. As if Bremen's music scene were a supermarket, he helped himself to bands such as Mörser, Minion and Stun.

Blues guitarist and singer Timo Gross releases new album. They accompanied him, carried him through difficult and fulfilling times: For his new album, Timo Gross looked at his life and selected songs that touched, accompanied and shaped him - musical "landmarks" on his way to becoming a professional musician. Whether it's "Infected" by The The, "I Thank You" by ZZ Top or James Taylor's "Sweet Baby James": In all the tracks, says the guitarist and singer, he feels the blues - and that's exactly what he gives them in his own, very personal and emotional interpretations. Timo Gross, himself winner of the German Record Critics' Prize, will be on tour with his band in autumn to bring this dedication to his colleagues and to life live on stages in Germany and neighboring Europe. October 2013 "Landmarks" appears on the label Fuego. Eleven songs are perhaps the 49-year-old’s most personal work to date. "These pieces have been with me my whole life, they're like good friends," he says. It was time to give them the blues. Because although pieces like "Word Up" by Cameo or "Alphabet Street" by Prince have nothing to do with Timo Gross' main genre at first glance, in his interpretations they get those colors that are characteristic of the blues: Mal “Landmarks” comes across as sluggishly heavy, sometimes as easy as life can be, even if it has been anxious and suffering. Of course, it also contains homages to Timo Gross' great heroes such as the recently deceased JJ Cale ("I Make Love To You Any Time") and Charles Brown's "Driftin' Blues", which Eric Clapton had in his live program for a long time. The emotional, sometimes rough character of "Landmarks" is underlined by the recording technique of the album: The eleven songs were recorded live, ten of them in Andy Schorpp's Schiller Studio in Karlsruhe. In addition to his rhythm section – Chris Gajny on bass and Franz Eichberger on drums – this time Timo Gross had young guitarist Manuel Bastian in the studio and Markus Lauer on Hammond. The guitarist and singer was again responsible for the production himself. As in his previous releases, Timo Gross relies on variety and creative arrangements without losing sight of his style and roots. Whether it's Marc Cohn's "Walk Through The World With Me", which he has turned into a moving guitar number, or "Incected" by The The, which makes an excellent blues number with its steel-heavy theme and emotional lyrics: Timo Gross understands to give the pieces his very own handwriting. And even without a band, all alone with his acoustic guitar, he convinces: At the end of the record, "Sweet Baby James" (James Taylor) becomes the emotional climax of a journey into Timo Gross' musical past - back to his very personal landmarks. Another album by Timo Gross was released parallel to "Landmarks", with which he continues the "Vineyard Sessions": In winter, also with Fuego, Vol. 4 of the acoustic project will be released, this time with the Irish singer and guitarist Tony McLoughlin and Marlon Klein , percussionist for the world music legend Dissidenten, among others. Timo Gross recorded the two previous editions with Richie Arndt and Alex Conti; in the first episode, Gregor Hilden was the third man on guitar.

If you read the biographies of the two musicians, you might get the impression that Tony McLoughlin and Marlon Klein didn't necessarily have to have crossed paths. Singer and guitarist McLoughlin comes from Northern Ireland, he calls his background "Celtic", probably there are also Vikings in his family tree. His name can be translated as "Son of the deep water". The debut album "Cinerama" from 2000 was produced by US producer Thomm Jutz (who, however, comes from the Black Forest). He also worked with Nanci Griffith and Mary Gauthier, among others. McLoughlin's name is often associated with Nashville, and his songs are sorted under "Americana". “Today, Americana stands for music that incorporates elements from rock, country, blues, folk and other roots music. For me, the best example of Americana is “The Band,” McLoughlin refers to a legend from the sixties and seventies. So he sees it as praise that people see his CD releases as Americana. "Maybe it's my innate style," he comments with a wink.

Strawberry Songs by Volkwin Müller & Friends is a passionate tribute to music legend John Lennon. This isn't just another tribute album. Rather, Volkwin has dealt intensively with the songs of the legendary Liverpooler, reduced them to their actual core and reinterpreted them in a surprising way with very special guests. The recordings of the songs are so fragile and beautiful that questions about song selection, differences to the originals and interpretation intentions hardly arise. Volkwin treats the Lennon songs respectfully but not submissively. His voice carries the lines carefully and devotedly into the present, mostly only carried by acoustic guitars.
,,Not an easy thing, but the way he implemented this project can without a doubt be described as highly successful. Only rarely did he follow the original arrangements, an approach with which he teased out previously unknown qualities, especially from the songs that at first glance would seem to have the least potential for development." (Good Times, April / May 2013)

On his new album "Auf dem Weg" Volkwin Müller is dynamic and forward-looking. The Detmold songwriter has been going his own way for years and has developed significantly since his last album and found his own unmistakable style. Musically strongly influenced by guitars and the unmistakable voice of the Detmold, Volkwin takes the listener on a journey through his environment and his experiences. Always relaxed and with a lot of feeling, he presents twelve strong titles that ensure that the listener finds himself in his own mental cinema. There are songs on the album that seem like road movies and are ideal music for the road and for car rides. In his producer Uli Kringler, Volkwin Müller has found someone who knows how to stage the album perfectly and has once again proved to be a lucky hand in putting together the right accompanying musicians.

Volkwin has been on stage for over 30 years. For him, it is time to take stock and look at what has been achieved so far. With the CD "The early years" he presents a colorful overview of his songs from his band years since the beginning of the 90s. For him, the pieces represent a musical diary from his earlier creative period - before his solo years - and have a very personal meaning for him. The songs are about the circus of emotions that normal life offers. Some of the songs are in English, some in German. Three pieces are purely instrumental titles. With this re-release, Volkwin wants to make the forgotten songs accessible to today's audience. The 19 titles - including the previously unreleased instrumental track "In vivo guitar" - have all been remastered and appear for the first time in this compilation on one CD. The portrait of Volkwin created especially for this CD was created by the painter Hardy C. Lugerth from Celle. The release is rounded off by a lovingly designed digipack gatefold cover with an extensive booklet and detailed explanations on the creation of the individual songs.

The double CD "Volkwin Müller & Co. - LIVE" contains a total of 24 titles. The first CD is entitled "Covers" and contains compositions by Lennon/McCartney, Sting, George Harrison, Mark Knopfler and Gallagher/Lyle. The second CD entitled “Own Songs” contains songs penned by Volkwin. With the trio "Volkwin & Co.", the band leader Volkwin Müller has found the formation with which he can implement his ideas of his own songs and various versions of his own rock and pop music milestones. "We played the cover songs in a special packaging that I would have always liked to hear," says Müller. And so "Volkwin & Co. - Live" can present the band leader Volkwin as a fantastic singer and good guitarist - masterfully staged by his long-time companion Mike Turnbull and his brother Wolfgang. The CD "Own Songs" contains titles from Volkwin's program "Signals" and also two new pieces, "It's over" and "Air to live". With these concert recordings from a total of four years, listeners and followers of Volkwin & Co. get everything they expect from a "Volkwin & Co." concert: the hammer version of Sting's "Tea in Sahara", performed by percussionist Mike Turnbull Beatles classic "Come together" and the original composition "Deutschland" with which Volkwin & Co. was seen several times on television, including on WDR (Klingendes NRW). But also the intimate moments that Volkwin celebrates with Sting's "Roxanne" and his own song "Invisible sun" make this live album a pearl in every folk music collection. When you hear this album again and again, you know that it's here Music is played with great emotionality and a lot of passion, which leads to a growing fan base in the long term. And you sit there and enjoy it - as if you were in the middle of the audience.

Hamburg has always been one of the most important music cities in Germany, which not only goes back to the early days of the Beatles, but is mainly due to Hamburg's current musical life with a diverse mix of classical, pop, musicals and important festivals. The songwriter Volkwin Müller, who lives in Detmold, also made his way to the Elbe to fulfill a dream: to record an album in his favorite city with first-class musicians. Directed by the exceptional Hamburg guitarist and producer Uli Kringler (Sarah Connor, Roger Cicero, Pe Werner, Paul O'Brian, among others), who has already contributed to the album "Paints and Powders" by Julian Dawson or "Paul O'Brian - Live in Hamburg". has breathed its unmistakable breath. The team was supported by first-class musicians, such as what is probably Europe's busiest drummer, Heinz Lichius (including Bob Mintzer, Michel Petrucciani, Ulla Meinecke Band, NDR Bigband), bassist Lars Hansen (including Ute Lemper, Gordon Haskell, NDR Symphonie Orchester), the pianist and keyboarder Mathias "Matze" Kloppe (including Roachford, Stefan Gwildis), the songwriter and harp player Julian Dawson (including Richard Thompson, BAP, Little Feat), the choristers Fontaine Burnett (including Marla Glenn, Chaka Khan, The Temptations) and Amsterdam-based Hanna Prins, Hamburg cellist Susanne Schott and Moscow-born violinist Julia Orlova (including Tim Bendzko, musicals “Rocky” and “The Lion King”). Volkwin's new CD was mixed and mastered by Tobias Eichelberg (including Scorpions, Die Toten Hosen unplugged, Rainbirds). The special cover artwork was created by graphic artist, bassist and two-time Grammy winner Klaus Voormann, who was there everywhere - with Manfred Mann as bassist, as graphic artist with the Beatles, later as bassist in John Lennon's solo years. Hardly any other place contains as much serenity and joy in music as Uli Kringler's studio in Finkenwerder on the Elbe. And that's exactly why Volkwin's new album was created on this spot. A perfect place to record your music during the day and to sit on a terrace or on the dyke in the evening far away from the stress and hustle and bustle in the sunset, to watch the ships over the Elbe, to enjoy a delicious glass of red wine and to gain strength and energy for the collect next day of admission. Then the next day, to record powerful loud and quiet songs that tell stories from life and speak straight from the heart. "With other eyes" shows a versatility and depth that only a few German songwriters create. 100% Volkwin inspired by soft influences like Jackson Browne, Justin Currie (Del Amitri) or David Crosby. The result was twelve songs about moments that you never forget, about solidarity, about friendship, about love, loss and a change of perspective. Musical moments full of images and emotions that are seldom so beautifully dressed in words and melodies. Intense and upbeat, "With Different Eyes" offers impressive levels of musical and emotional intimacy. A mature work that encourages you to look at your own life with a little more distance, in order to perhaps see it with different eyes in the end. Volkwin proves to be a talented songwriter in search of the perfect song, who, with the support of producer Uli Kringler, is looking for the right musical realization for his stories. With these twelve songs, he creates catchy tunes that wrap the listener warmly, as if to protect them from the approaching autumn with its rainy weather and stormy winds. And that works extremely well. The music takes you on a journey into the universe, from which you don't want to come back anytime soon. With ballads like "It stays in your heart" or "You'll still be surprised" your heart immediately melts. The song "Solidarity" goes back to an encounter with the former Polish President Lech Walesa and is currently more relevant than ever. This song is accompanied by finely arranged strings. The songs "Jeder" or "Es ist über" get your feet pumping and are the finest pop with a small pinch of folk. "When You Catch Your Song" describes the magic of music and songwriting. The Detmold songwriter with the special voice has impressively returned with this album after his debut "Signale" (2005) and the much acclaimed "Strawberry Songs" (2012) with completely new interpretations of "John Lennon" songs and has proven himself that he has evolved as a songwriter.

The bird learns to fly, the Wippsteert “flews”. On their third album of the same name, the six Low German folk rockers from the Osnabrück region are more versatile and self-confident than ever. Together with producer Matthias Lohmöller from Docmaklang-Studio in Osnabrück and the Bremen label Fuego, Wippsteert once again get rid of musical barriers without losing sight of the essentials: Folk-Rock "up Platt", which entertains but also moves. Already in the opener "Miegklämmken" mandolin and accordion lay the folk foundation on which the Wippsteert sound is based. When singer Marcus "Bruni" Bruns starts the big pop refrain in a duet with the East Frisian entertainer Annie Heger, he makes it unmistakably clear that the listener is certainly not expecting old-fashioned folk music on "Flügge". We dedicated the song "Is goar nich so läip" to our friend Heini, who unfortunately passed away two years ago. He was ill for a long, long time. "Is goarnich so läip - it's not that bad at all", deals with the topic of dying. That dying can be bad, but being dead isn't. It should encourage and take away fear. We sang this song together with Malte Hoyer from Versengold. Supported by Irish folk and bluegrass elements, a melancholic but never melancholy hymn about trust and confidence emerges. When Bruni becomes a “relationship orphan” a little later, a clear post-punk impact spreads. An exotic feature on the new album is "Hack Bolle", when the mandolin cuts through 2000s metal riffs, Wippsteert go to the extreme. Hack Bolle - comes from: "I almost had it. Hadde ick bolle" and can often be heard in our area and is often pronounced by the elderly, abbreviated as Hack bolle. A grandma from the neighborhood said that quite often. Because this hack Bolle sounds so hard, we made a pretty heavy song by Bolle, a rough piece of flat metal. We also had support for this song. Simon "Mr. Hurley” Erichsen von Osnabrück's flagship privateers Mr. Hurley & the powder monkeys? Whoa! Hard n Heavy up Platt. Hack Bolle! A wind section drives the circus polka "Altobelli" forward. The 11 songs on "Flügge"" with their staccato singing and dreamy folk melodies in "Herrenschokolade" to the rock pounder "Tinafallen" are also held together by the exclusively Low German lyrics. Typical for Wippsteert, it is the small hardships of everyday life with all their facets that become big stories. Low German is exciting and varied. Wippsteert are now spreading their wings to spread the word and follow in BAP's footsteps.
