Pinky Loops is a string duo from Poland founded in 2017, combining classical with electronica. They play their compositions on electric instruments: violin and cello using guitar effects and a looper, an electronic looping machine. That gives the opportunity to record musical motifs during the performances, play them as a backing track, and record a few tracks to each other. Pinky Loops have played their instruments (Asia - cello, Marta - violin) since they were 7 years old. They both finished the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, Poland on classical instruments. They have known each other for years and they had a possibility to play together in many different musical projects so they could find that playing together gives them satisfaction. Due to this they decided to create Pinky Loops - an electric duet. New album “Evolutions” will be released in August. The idea of this album is to combine classic with modernity - each track contains a looped musical quote taken from classical composers, in a contemporary edition. Every sound in this recording was created by Pinky Loops using only the electric instruments: violin and cello.
The album was written, arranged and recorded during the global Covid 19 pandemic. Craig Hinds started gathering initial ideas in early 2020. The songs developed slowly and when he was allowed to travel again, he met with his bandmates in Johannesburg to develop the tracks further in joint sessions. "There was a lot to write about because the emotions were high, families and couples were separated and 'times they are / were a-changing' as legend Bob Dylan would have put it" (CRAIG HINDS).
"Elephant In The Room" is a solid and warm album with twelve tracks that was recorded in a trio formation (Craig Hinds (voc, g, p), Howie Combrink (dr, voc) and Gideon Botes (g). The latter is also responsible for the production and the mixing, which he was supported by Hinds and Combrink. It contains, in addition to the usual excellent Craig Hinds compositions, also a stunning Watershed interpretation of the Bruce Springsteen classic "I'm On Fire" LP contains a good mix of up-tempo songs, classic watershed ballads and mid-tempo pieces, and the group's music has evolved over the years, incorporating a variety of influences without deviating too far from what Watershed is has always mattered.
Lyrically, Craig Hinds undertakes a journey into the unknown and questions everything that happens around him, while at the same time trying to address the “elephant in the room”. "There are just too many opinions and nobody really addresses the real situation" (CRAIG HINDS). In true Watershed songwriting tradition, the songs take up topics from everyday life, everyday worries, everyday ups and downs and everyday love in order to create songs that you won't get out of your head for a long time. His greatest fear is not being able to write a hit. “It doesn't matter how much you tour, how many fans you have or how many network followers click on your site. If you don't have good songs, you're not going anywhere ”(CRAIG HINDS).
But if you are expecting a new "Indigo Girl", you may be disappointed because Watershed anno 2021 has become more contemporary and rockier. Watershed have developed stylistically, but do not deny their own special sound. Haunting, energetic and sophisticated indie folk pop rock. Songs like the single “Undone”, “Map Of My Behavior”, the bonus track “Countdown” or the title track itself have a terrific driving drum kit without losing the melody affinity of the Hinds compositions. Memories of early R.E.M., Coldplay and the Crash Test Dummies are awakened. The focus of the instrumentation is an excellent mix of guitars, electric piano and the distinctive and naturally expressive voice of Craig Hinds.

The Brute : merges progressive electro, pop, rock and cinematic industrial sounds with catchy melodies and captivating vocals to a fascinating sound amalgam. Its hypnotic effect inevitably casts a spell over you. With the debut album Brute: One, Daniel Gierke, mastermind and driving force of The Brute :, dares to step out of the shadows and into the public eye after decades of composing –or sound distilling. What he presents is less a step – but more like a rocket launch!
The album, finally edited by Simon Gibson in the Abbey Road Studios, comes up with seemingly contrasting worlds of sound: electronic meets rock, industrial sounds with cinematic appeal to catchy melodies, pops with Wagnerian-style pomposity, and it forms a wonderful synthesis connected by Daniel's distinctive and haunting voice, which describes situations in a sometimes very gloomy, sometimes self-deprecating manner, which at the same time reflect stages in his life.
The influences of the high times of electro-pop and electro-rock from the 80s and 90s are unmistakable – everything transported to the present day. The opener Driving To You invites you to turning up the volume in your car and enjoying the drive with the window open! What follows is an incredible musical journey to highs and lows, from one high point to the next. Quiet tones alternate with angry and dramatic soundscapes only to end in a colossal thunderstorm of sound.
The Brute: is an electronica music project and merges progressive electro sound with melodic singing and a mix of electro-pop, blues and rock influences. The new double single "Absolute Disgrace / Lonesome Hero '20" is already the third release and the second together with Timezone Records. While "Absolute Disgrace" is a clear political statement about autocratic governments, "Lonesome Hero" is about not taking yourself too seriously.

The first harbinger of the new Tors of Dartmoor album was released with the song Shadowplay. The interpretation of the Joy Division classic was recorded for a tribute sampler and now represents the transition to the new album. On "The Spirit of the Mezzanine" influences from the gothic cult bands Bauhaus and Joy Division are combined with the typical Tors of Dartmoor sound. It's been over 10 years since the last album. In the meantime The Tors of Dartmoor have been involved in many projects and a lot of song material has accumulated. Most of the recordings were made as part of the respective artistic adventures. The Spirit of the Mezzanine will be released on October 15, 2021. In December, "the obvious darkness", the first album by "The Tors of Dartmoor" from 1991, will be released as a reissued double CD with many unreleased demo tracks from the time before the studio recordings.

After their 2013 album Calls From Space, Minusheart is back in the biz with ten new songs. "Traps And Treasures" is the name of the new, fourth studio album by the Aachen-based industrial rockers and we are happy about their first release on Timezone. Although "Traps And Treasures" at times sounds more minimalist than its predecessors and sometimes flirts with the electronic body music of the 1980s and 1990s, the quartet seems to have reached a new level of maturity with this album. Minusheart always manage to create a unique style from the ingredients electro, punk, industrial and rock. In addition, Minusheart's charismatic frontman Diver manages to give his band's sound a completely unique note with his sometimes morbid stories and his gloomy shouts, which always inspire with brilliant irony and apt sarcasm.

"Changes", the title of the new album by Unplaces, could not have been chosen more appropriately. After all, the change in all its facets was not only the inspiration for the album concept, but also made itself felt in other ways for the formation from Bochum and Hanover. Recently separated from the previous band name NRT, the renaming itself should be the most obvious change - the most significant, however, is only with a few exceptions. Rather, the completely new approach in terms of songwriting, which should lead the frontwoman and main composer Dorette Gonschorek on completely unfamiliar paths, is more important in this context. In the past, the songs were created piece by piece and completely independently of each other over a longer period of time, but this time the focus was on the big picture in advance. Ergo, "Changes" is a musical and textual unit, which is based on a sophisticated dramaturgy. The trio playfully combines unobtrusive guitars with passionate vocals, rolls soft keyboard carpets over mechanical drum templates and weaves wave, rock and post-punk with careful pop elements into a varied spectacle of light-hearted melancholy. The lyrical component of the 14 pieces, on the other hand, approaches the chosen complex of topics critically with the question of meaning and self-determination in times of medialization, information overload, globalization and consumer pressure. How are you supposed to keep up with the constant change in society, or better yet, to put it in the words of the title track: What are changes for? The answer to this can be (un)located between the lines of “Changes”.

"Finally something different", "unexpected", "refreshing" are feedbacks that NRT often counters. Listeners who are “fed up” with their usual listening experiences, be it dark wave, synth pop, alternative or indie, are positively surprised by the combination of style elements. In addition, the band turns away from the widespread, typical verse-chorus structure in most of the songs and thus provokes an interest and the "compulsion" to listen, which often falls by the wayside because you "know" what expected one. NRT on the other hand: Quiet parts to "endure", build up tension through long intros, unexpected bursts of energy and suddenly dance rhythms.

His previous album "Me" already indicated that there was more to come. AND is the logical continuation and the name says it all. Left Engelmann got a lot of support from the people he had been with for years. The album is a musical cross section with many different influences. But it's clearly a pop album, ranging from funk to synth-pop. The synthesizer is therefore an integral part of every song and shows Left's deep connection to this instrument. A total of 10 musicians have contributed to this studio album alongside Left. Namely: Miss Rockester, Nelly Palmowske (medlz), Krishn Kypke, Edward Sikorski, Stephan Salewski, Fabian Weisenberger, René Prescher (Days of Fate), Guido Richarts (Strömkarlen, Ziganimo), Jan Kürschner AND Krech. A choir led by Victor Sepulveda Rodriguez was also specially hired. Left Engelmann was born in Dresden in 1980. At the age of 7 he was already enthusiastic about synthesizer music. His father brought him his first Casio synth from a trip. From that moment on, Left began to engage in music non-stop. At the age of 12 he taught himself to play drums and guitar. A school friend showed him how to write music with the Commodore AMIGA. So he started to delve into the technical side of music. In 1996, with the help of his father, he started setting up his own recording studio. In 1999 he founded LSD-RECORDS.DE - Tonstudio Dresden with a friend of many years. Under this label he began to work as a music producer. More and more musicians hired him as a producer. Since the early 2000s he has been recording bands from the rock, EBM, synthy-pop, folk music, a-cappella and acoustic-pop genres. He worked with bands like Absurd Minds, Days of Fate, Medlz, Strömkarlen and with artists like Stefan Johansson. He also produced arrangements for Anne Clark or Peter Spilles (Project Pitchfork). He never lost sight of his passion for composing his own music. In 2013 he finally studied media composition.

Successfully financed within just three days via STARTNEXT, the title of the album LEVEL UP is part of the RELATE program: Not only does the unique character of the sound, made up of melodramatic synthpop and driving electronic rock, receive its finishing touches on LEVEL UP, but also the messages that the eleven songs transport. Stylistically diverse, the album does not shy away from genre boundaries. Whether brute metal guitars meet catchy indie pop or a melancholic piano sets off for an epic rock ballad; the poignant and complex vocal lines act as a link between multi-faceted compositions. Dense arrangements and driving rhythms carry the emotional and distinctive voice of singer PATRICK KRAHE, whose lyrics always tell in a very personal way honestly and with reference to actual events of interpersonal relationships, our dealings with society or impressions for which simple words are not enough . MIKE MÜLLER's dynamic drum beats, in combination with LUKAS WAGNER's energetic bass lines, form the foundation for haunting synthesizers and LISA ZUBER's variable guitar sounds. Anyone looking for diverse entertainment will find it on LEVEL UP.

Physics, astronomy, numerology, philosophy, prehistoric mythology and literature - sciences that in one form or another have always run through the albums of the Crüxshadows. After the American electro rockers recently caused real dance floor eruptions with the euphorically celebrated pre-single "Helios" in scene circles, mastermind Rogue and his loyal troupe are now releasing their most well thought-out, most experimental and also most gripping work to date with "Astromythology"!

MYSTIGMA are back to cast the usual dark melancholy in new forms with GEBETE, their 6th studio album. The people from Osnabrück compare themselves to "a good wine that gains in aroma and quality over the years". The 12 GEBETE on the new album do indeed allow for this charming comparison. Disturbing, frighteningly introductory and then brutally starting, the opener "Schockraum" defines right at the beginning the new self-image of a gloomy sound cosmos. The following epic, sacral-sounding "Like a prayer" is representative of the new work, with catchy hooks, deep guitars and an overall extremely dense soundscape, which not least unfolds its full effect through the targeted use of strings, grand piano and organs. The balancing act between deep, dark rock and electro is again demonstrated by songs such as the experimental but at the same time rousing "Erlution" or the dark ballad-like "Charon", which knows how to create a very unique sound atmosphere with its oriental-cineastic instruments This time four musicians focus more than ever on a mature mood characterized by authenticity, which represents a highly individual dark rock cocktail full of passion and devotion. As a homage to bygone times, the quartet finishes with the gothic-heavy “Sacrificed”, a cover version of the legendary former Swedish death metal band EDGE OF SANITY. The heart chord, based on Patrick Süskind's "Perfume", is lyrically representative of the basis of the texts: 12 prayers written in German, which neither praise nor praise, but accuse and provide deep insights into personal, foreign and social abysses, desires and fears. Supported by background singer Tina Frank (including Eisbrecher), album no. 6 sets new accents in many respects, which suit the foursome and give the band a new and fine note. The album, which was completely self-produced in the band's own studio and mixed and mastered by Dennis Mikus (among others, the Last Instance), impresses with a warm, organic and powerful sound. Arousing, accusing, melodic, tender and brute, MYSTIGMA continue on their way on the dark paths and abduct you into a labyrinth of darkness.

A year after their last album "I Could Sense A Tragedy", dAVOS present their tenth release, an EP with three new songs and five remixes or alternative versions. The title fits the season: "My Pleasure Garden" - but that's about all the idyll and romance that this recording has to offer. In 2014, dAVOS are again basking in their usual gloomy mood, which Eric Nelson's clear vocals can only bring out of the depths on the eponymous opener "My Pleasure Garden". Already the second number "The Run", a melancholic synth wave song, is about farewell and longing, but is surpassed in desolation by the following number "Loving Man"; an autobiographical song dedicated not to a lover but to the father who beats him. The fourth song - like the following new versions of old hits - should sound familiar to fans, since it was released on the vinyl pressing of the album back in 2013. The Nine Circles remix of "Shatter" can be highlighted as a particularly successful remix, which stands out from its original with particularly catchy loops. In short: Even after ten years, dAVOS have lost none of their enthusiasm and innovation.

The EP How Does Love Feel manifesting the work of Ampax since their debut album Love Pain & Works. With "How does love feel" Ampax have finally arrived lyrically and musically after a long journey and take up the theme of longing, love and transience. Musically, Ampax stand for an otherwise never seen expression of electronic music, paired with progressive metal. Lyrically they have also developed further and found their place. On their new EP they present three new songs and four remixes. These were contributed by the synthpop band Alphamay and the EBM Legende Trilogy, among others. Even the opener "How does love feel" gets under your skin. The almost three and a half minute track begins both melodically and lyrically in a slow and calm manner, develops powerfully and hard, and then grows to orchestral size. With "Analogue Souls In Digital Times" the indie collective around the charismatic head and songwriter Robert Nouve follows the original wave and post-punk development of the 80s underground and delivers, as usual, demanding and intensive songs for head, heart and dancefloor. A completely logical development for Nouve himself, who only presented his current novel Drüben last fall: “Even when we recorded our last record Greatest Hits, we felt the vibe and the reputation of electronics. With the new sounds we've almost become more eighties than eighties without losing our style or copying anything. We only realized how much we followed music history and got close to many of our musical role models from the good old days when we finished it.” Thanks to the cross-genre and cross-scene art claim, the album comes up with a lot of freshness and versatility. The pre-single "Forever And A Day", which is already rotating in the clubs, with its deep and driving beats and a catchy and danceable melody, is an example of the classic and innovative approach of the album. The songs pull the listener into their own world of sound from the very first minute and take them on an intensive and energetic trip through the entire range of variations of the electronic synth underground of the eighties. In his lyrics, which become more and more sophisticated from album to album, Nouve deals with the intellectual emptiness of the post-capitalist zeitgeist, the disorientation of society and the lost individual within it. At the end there is a hidden track for a straight tender farewell. Analogue Souls In Digital Times will be released on CD and audiophile heavyweight vinyl. The CD contains a bonus track. The vinyl first edition will be strictly limited, hand-numbered and with hand-finished artwork. The special edition, which is only available via the website, also includes a tape with an additional non-album track.

Spherical, meditative sounds and a breathtakingly beautiful voice invite you on a journey through landscapes full of sombre beauty, creating images that open up new worlds or worlds that were believed lost. Carsten Hundt is the man behind the Lambda project. The graduate double bass player dedicated himself to playing classical music for a long time until he decided in 1997 to expand his repertoire to include electronic music. Synthesizers and electronic gimmicks together with the classic sound of the double bass create the somber, spherical mood typical of Lambda. Hundt has been supported by singer Mareike Greb since 2010. The soft voice of the professional musician, dancer and actress blends harmoniously into the sound of the music without pushing itself into the foreground. The stories she tells in her texts are partly spoken, partly sung, and always presented with a lot of emotion.

Unusual times produce unusual music. "Symmetries" is an instrumental concept album, cinematic and painterly. The music is a "crossover" between classic and pop, well thought out, but without dull sensationalism. Skilfully, but without aimless virtuosity. The pianist and keyboarder Jens Niemann and his band use it to create soundtracks for previously unmade films, some touching, others cool and compact. There is something new to discover with every listen.
